Nicole Kidman sent sexy photos to Lee Daniels to get role in 'Paperboy'
Nicole Kidman wasnt afraid to take a risk in order to get the part in the new Lee Daniels directed film, Paperboy.
Paperboy, which is set in the 1960s, stars Zac Efron and Matthew McConaughey as two brothers investigating the case of a death row inmate, played by John Cusack. Kidman plays a woman who is obsessed with marrying Cusacks convicted killer character.
According to Us Weekly, during a Thursday press conference for the film at the Cannes Film Festival, Kidman revealed that she was initially not in Daniels realm of consideration for the part because he thought it unlikely that such a huge star would be cast in the low-budget film.
Lee said, Look, weve got no money, youre going to have to do your own hair and make-up, Kidman said of her first discussion with Daniels, Us reports.
However, the actress, who claims that she had been looking for something raw and more dangerous in terms of performances, knew that this was the film that she had been searching for and was determined to show the Precious director that the part was hers.
So I actually went into my bathroom and I got out the fake tan and put on fake eyelashes and got a hairpiece thing that was platinum, threw it all on and texted a photo to Lee in all these different provocative positions, she said. Thats how it came together.
Kidman claims that the director's response was too provocative to reveal but the point is, he approved of her coming aboard the project.
"What he sent back I can't say, but it was a thumbs up," she said, according to Us.
Paperboy will open in the U.S. later this year, USA Today reports.
