Nicole Kidman sent "provocative" photos to win 'Paperboy' role
The 44-year-old actress claimed that she sent texts containing shots of herself to persuade Daniels to cast her in the film's leading role as Charlotte Bless.
Speaking at the Cannes Film Festival, Kidman recalled candidly: ''Lee said, 'Look, we've got no money, you're going to have to do your own hair and make-up'.
''So I actually went into my bathroom and I got out the fake tan and put on fake eyelashes and got a hairpiece thing that was platinum, threw it all on and texted a photo to Lee in all these different provocative positions.
"That's how it came together. What he sent back I can't say, but it was a thumbs up."
The controversial movie, which contains a scene where Kidman urinates on co-star Zac Efron to cure a jellyfish sting, has provoked a mixed reaction.
Efron, who appears in only his underwear in the rain at one point in the movie, has admitted that he felt "uncomfortable" playing his part of Jack James.
