Nicole Kidman's latest movie 'Grace of Monaco' has created a bit of a storm after the Monaco Royal family denounced the film as having "major historical untruths".

Kidman is set to star as Grace Kelly, the Hollywood star who became Princess Grace of Monaco when she retired from acting and married Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956.

The film will focus on six months in the Princess' remarkable life in 1962, and will show the young Princess' actions in helping preserve the monarchy of the principality from the threat of a French coup.

The Royal Family, including Princess Grace's son Albert II, has come out against the movie though, with the BBC reporting that they have released a statement saying: "The Princely family wishes to emphasise that this film is by no means a biopic," adding that it contains, "major historical untruths and a series of purely fictional scenes."

Apparently the palace did contact producers asking for changes to be made to the movie after being sent a draft script, but with not all of them made they have decided to make it clear that they do not support the film.

The statement continues: "It recounts one rewritten and needlessly 'glamourised' page in the histo! ry of the Principality of Monaco and its family," adding: "The Palace of Monaco cannot accept that the producers of this film imply they have received Their Highnesses' support in any way whatsoever, since this is not the case."
