Nicole Kidman on being nude in films: 'I don't mind being naked'

When it comes to bearing all for her roles, Nicole Kidman isn't shy.

The actress recently opened up about filming nude scenes in an interview with W magazine. "I don't mind being naked. Maybe as I get older, and now after having had a baby, it might be different, but I enjoy not letting my issues get ! in the w ay of a performance," Kidman said. "Once I start putting all my little insecurities in my mind, I'm not actually acting. Then it's about me --and it should never be about me. It should be about the character."

Kidman stars in the new HBO film "Hemingway & Gellhorn" alongside Clive Owen. In the biopic, Kidman stars as war correspondent Martha Gelhorn who beings an affair with Ernest Hemingway (played by Owen) during the 1930s. The film chronicles their relationship including their five-year marriage and has many steamy love scenes. The trailer for the film can be seen below.

"The sex was very important in that relationship because that's the way she cuts Hemingway off," Kidman said.

"I kept asking Phil Kaufman, the director, 'Is all this sex important for the story?' I wanted to make sure he wasn't just getting off," Kidman added. "But these were two people who could make love when a building was falling down around them. They had passion."

Kidman is married to country singer Keith Urban. The couple, who tied the knot in 2006, are also parents to two daughters, 3-year-old Sunday Rose and 17-month-old Faith Margaret. Kidman also has two adopted children from her marriage to actor Tom Cruise - Isabella and Connor.

Urban had vocal chord surgery in November to remove a polyp and had to be silent for three weeks during recovery. The 44-year-old actress said the experience made them closer.

"It was sort of profound: to go without his voice, and then to finally hear his voice. What if he sounded different? I was there for his first words, and then we cried," Kidman said. "How many people experience their husband's first words? If that doesn't bring you closer, you're not breathing."

It was reported earlier this month that the actress is in talks to play Grace Kel! ly in "G race of Monaco." The film is said to follow Kelly's sixth year as princess of Monaco in 1961 when Monaco got in a heated debate with France.

Kidman, who won an Oscar for portraying Virginia Woolf in the 2003 film "The Hours", was also nominated for a 2011 Oscar for her role in "Rabbit Hole."

The actress will next star opposite Dermot Mulroney in "Stoker," which is slated for release later in the year.
