Keith Urban in awe of Nicole Kidman's silent therapy

London, July 20 (ANI): Keith Urban has credited wife Nicole Kidman for stopping him from slipping into depression when he battled drug and alcohol addiction.

The singer checked into rehab just four months after the couple got married in 2006.

Urban thanked the 45-year-old star for saving his life and for keeping a lid on his addiction demons.

"Negativity and doubt are always creeping into my life and having to be kept at bay. Thankfully Nic is great at calling me on it and our marriage is at the stage where she doesn't have to say anything," the Daily Express quoted the 44-year-old as telling Australian GQ.

The singer claims that the 'Golden Compass' star had now sussed him out properly and will ensure that he'll never return to that dark place again.

"I hear myself prattling on with negative nonsense and her loaded silence shuts me up," the country singer said.

He also insisted that since having daughters Sunday Rose, four, and Faith Margaret, 17 months, with Kidman, he has got a whole new perspective on life.

"Being a husband and a father is a horrendous responsibility but it's a beautiful opportunity as well. I'm always balancing the need to encourage the girls' freedom and not impose on their own journey with that primal need of the father and husband to protect and guide them every step of the way," he added.
