Nicole Kidman Rocks the 2012 Golden Globes Red Carpet, Plus Her Best Looks of the Past
Confident and fashionable more often than not, Nicole Kidman didn't disappoint when she hit the red carpet at the 2012 Golden Globes on January 15. The actress was all class, elegance and style in a stunning neutral-colored Versace gown emblazoned with rows of gold accents. She wore her famous red locks long and loose, and paired the ensemble with understated Fred Leighton bling and a gold clutch by Roger Vivier. Although some would shy away from cloaking light skin in a pale frock, the look worked in Kidman's favor by allowing her blue eyes to pop like never before, and maybe it was just the magic of the day, but her skin never looked more clear and beautiful. In honor of the actress' best dressed celeb candidacy, here's a look back at other looks she's used to rock the red carpet.
Kidman stood out from the crowd in a bright red Balenciaga gown and Bottega Veneta clutch at the 2007 Oscars. Although some might deem the ginormous neck bow and train a little much, they added a refreshing bit of oomph to what might o! therwise have been called a safe selection. Because, you know, 'safe' is a dirty world in Tinsel Town.
Kidman was the stuff of dreams in a pale pink Chanel Couture creation at the 2002 Oscars. The gown featured spaghetti straps and tiers of delicate chiffon that hugged her trim frame. She paired the light-as-air dress with a looping rough cut diamond necklace from Bulgari and a pale clutch.
She didn't nail the hair --her long tresses looked a smidge too just-stepped-out-of-a- hurricane for an awards show-- but her silvery grey strapless gown by John Paul Gaultier hit all the right notes from a fashion perspective.
A largely unknown Kidman stepped out with then-hubby Tom Cruise and dazzled onlookers with her daring fashion sensibilities at the 1997 Academy Awards. With her hair pinned in an elegant updo, the statuesque actress towered over her diminutive spouse wearing a striking greenish goldish embroidered Dior by John Galliano gown. And at that very moment, America knew there were better things in store for Nicole.
Pale pink, bright red, chartreuse, then black. The color chameleon impressed mightily when she walked the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival while promoting "Moulin Rouge!" in 2001 while decked out in a ruffled black creation by Tom Ford for Yves Saint Laurent. The look was pretty, sassy and just a wee bit dangerous.
