Trendy trilby: Nicole Kidman keeps warm in a chic hat and scarf as she jets out of chilly L.A with husband Keith Urban

It was a chilly day in Los Angeles today, with winter temperatures creeping in early.

And Nicole Kidman covered up from the cold by sporting a knitted wool scarf and trendy trilby hat.

The 44-year-old Australian actress chatted on the phone and smiled as she prepared to jet out of Los Angeles with her husband Keith Urban.

She paired the look with a printed dress and olive green coat.

The look was almost a hark-back to her Australian heritage, with it's earthy tones, and her her hat was reminiscent of the one she wore in the Baz Luhrmann directed historical romance, Australia.

Keith however, looked somewhat withdrawn as he walked through the terminal with his wife.

The 44-year-old New Zealand-born singer will undergo throat surgery this month after a growth was discovered on his vocal cords.

He has been forced to postpone several scheduled performance as he recovers.

The out-patient procedure will take place later this month, his spokesman confirmed earlier this week.

Heading home? The couple were possibly heading back to Nashville, where Keith is due to perform at the Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday

Part of the recovery process requires the singer to be on complete vocal rest while recuperating.

Urban will be honoring one-song performance commitments until his surgery, and will reschedule all other performances in the new year.

He postponed his All For The Hall concert to benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame, scheduled for January 18.

The couple were most likely heading home to Nashville, Tennessee, where Keith is due to perform at the Country Music Association Awards on Wednesday.

He is also nominated for the entertainer and male vocalist awards at the Academy of Country Music Awards later this month.

It remains to be seen whether he will be well enough to attend.

A statement on Keith's website reads: 'The surgery, an out-patient procedure, while minor, will require complete voice rest followed by an undetermined period of recuperation that will require the postponement of the 'All For The Hall' benefit concert.

'Although Urban has had to substantially scale back his appearances requiring multiple songs, he will be honoring his pre-existing one-song performance commitments leading up to his procedure at the end of this month.
